ECE offers a number of Master of Science degree programs, along with a doctoral degree program.
Master’s students pursue a degree in one of five areas: computer engineering, cybersecurity, electrical and telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering, or robotics. Students may choose to enhance their MS degree experience by participating in graduate co-op or by completing a master’s thesis. Students must develop and submit a program plan for approval.
The PhD is awarded after 90 approved graduate quarter credit hours. The widely varied nature of research in the field means that ECE does not dictate the completion of specific courses. Rather, doctoral students construct a plan of study with the help of graduate advisors. The plan outlines coursework the student intends to pursue and the research endeavors, and must incorporate three major milestones: candidacy examination, research proposal, and a dissertation defense and submission.
