Leading the Way 2016

The English Language Center of Drexel University is pleased to welcome students from Pontifica Universidad Catolica de Chile for six weeks of English language instruction, leadership skills development, and an introduction to U.S. culture, which includes cultural trips and activities with students at the ELC.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

All students will attend morning classes in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. They will be placed with other Intensive English Program students in speaking and writing courses on the basis of initial placement tests during the orientation.

During the afternoon class time, students will attend courses in leadership development including guest lectures on leadership topics. The students will meet with the program coordinator once a week to debrief about their experiences and prepare for the upcoming week's activities.

Students will be able to sign up for optional tutoring on their own or as instructors recommend.

ACTIVITIES AND TRIPS

Students are welcome to join the ELC activities throughout the term. In winter, the ELC hosts an International Festival when our students share stories, music, dance, and items from their countries. Please bring something from your country to share for this exciting event.

Several trips will highlight important historical events in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas which will include a tour of historic Philadelphia, a visit to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the National Constitution Center as well as trips to Washington, D.C. and New York City.
