Bio

Donna McVey teaches oral and writing skills in the Intensive program at all levels of English proficiency. In addition, she is in charge of testing and placement of incoming students.

After she obtained her Masters in TESOL in 1991, Ms. McVey started teaching at the ELC as an Instructor. In 2016, she was promoted to Assistant Teaching Professor. During this time, she took a year off, in 1995-1996, to teach English to English majors in her native country, Romania, on a Fulbright fellowship. Ms. McVey has lived in Germany and Romania, and traveled to fifteen countries, including Japan, Kuwait, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand. She can speak Romanian, German, French and Spanish.

Ms. McVey has an undergraduate degree in biology and a graduate degree in TESOL and Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania. Students can talk to her about academic and career plans, as well as how to improve your writing and test taking skills.
