Dornsife Public Health Scholarships and Fellowships
At Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health we make every effort to ensure that current students and applicants receive as much financial assistance as possible through merit-based scholarships, grants and student loans.

Drexel Dornsife Undergraduate Scholarships
Drexel University offers undergraduate scholarships based on both merit and for students with various associations. For information on undergraduate scholarships visit Drexel Central.
Public Health Graduate Scholarships for MPH and MS Students
All applicants to on-campus Master of Public Health (MPH) and MS degree programs are automatically considered for Dean's scholarships for MPH and MS students at the time they apply via SOPHAS. Criteria for this public health graduate degree funding is based predominantly on academic merit, and the tuition support ranges from $5,000 to 50 percent tuition coverage during the length of the degree program.
If accepted to the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health, students are notified of scholarship eligibility in their acceptance packet.
More than 92 percent of full-time students receive Dean's scholarships.
Prospective MS students who are citizens from Central American countries and are not permanent residents of a high-income country are eligible for a similar funding package available through the Drexel-INCAP Training Program on Social Determinants of Cardiovascular Disease Over the Life Course, which is an NIH training grant focused on building research capacity in Central America.
Funding for MPH Programs at Drexel Dornsife
All applicants to the on-campus MPH degree programs at Drexel Dornsife School of Public Health are eligible for the endowed scholarships listed below. Applicants applying to the 18- or 21-month programs are eligible for the research fellowships.
Applicants interested in being considered for MPH funding through an endowed scholarship or fellowship are encouraged to apply no later than January 15 and should indicate their interest at the time they apply via SOPHAS.
The Dornsife Public Health Research Fellows are incoming MPH students of exceptional promise. Preference is given to students with strong interest or experience in urban health and health disparities.
The highly competitive fellowship award includes tuition scholarship of up to $35,000 over the length of the program. In addition, fellows are awarded a $1,000 monthly stipend (for up to 15 months) to conduct research with a faculty member for 10-15 hours per week. Continuation of the scholarship and research assistantship in the second year is conditional on progress. Dornsife Public Health Research fellows are also eligible to receive the Dornsife School of Public Health's Dean's Scholarships.

Meet the Dornsife Public Health Fellows
The Dornsife International Research Fellows award is designed for outstanding international MPH applicants whose career and research interests align with the Dornsife School of Public Health's focus on global and urban health.
The highly competitive fellowship award includes tuition scholarship of up to $35,000 over the length of the program. In addition, fellows are awarded a $1,000 monthly stipend (for up to 15 months) to conduct research with a faculty member for 10-15 hours per week. Continuation of the scholarship and research assistantship in the second year is conditional on progress. Dornsife International Research fellows are also eligible to receive the Dornsife School of Public Health's Dean's Scholarships.
Meet the Dornsife International Research Fellows
The Drexel Urban Health Collaborative (UHC) supports a limited number of master's students interested in urban health research each academic year. Applicants to on-campus MPH degree programs as well as on-campus MS applicants are considered for these positions based upon their exceptional academic promise and their interest in urban health, as evidenced in their application for admission.
UHC master's fellows receive a $1,000 monthly stipend (for 9 months per academic year) to work with a faculty mentor for 15 hours per week. UHC master's fellows are also eligible to receive the Dornsife School of Public Health's Dean's Scholarships.

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Antiracism (IDEA) Fellows work with an assistant dean, associate dean, or faculty member to support efforts at Drexel Dornsife to promote inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism.
Fellows receive a stipend for 10 or 20 hours of work per week for the position, which usually runs from October to June.

The Janssen-Dornsife Quantitative Fellowship offers two years of 100% tuition coverage for two students who identify as belonging to a population that has been underrepresented in the fields of epidemiology and biostatistics.

The Arthur L. Frank Endowed Scholarship Fund offers a $10,000 tuition scholarship to students who share the life-long commitment of Dr. Arthur L. Frank to advance and improve the health and safety of all workers and their natural and man-made environments. Students applying to the MPH or MS degree in Environmental and Occupational Health are eligible to be considered for this award. Recipients of the Arthur L. Frank award are also able to receive the Dornsife School of Public Health's Dean's Scholarships.

Meet the Frank Scholarship Recipients
The Joseph C. Tringali Memorial Scholarship offers a $10,000 tuition scholarship to students committed to the improvement of maternal and child health. The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a firm commitment to embarking on a career in public health that will address the challenges facing disadvantaged children and mothers and improve their opportunities for healthy and productive lives. Recipients of the Joseph C. Tringali Memorial Scholarship award are also able to receive the Dornsife School of Public Health's Dean's Scholarships.

The Marla J. Gold, MD Endowed Scholarship Fund offers a $5,000 tuition scholarship for the MPH portion of the program to students pursuing the joint MD/MPH degree at Drexel University. The Gold Scholarship is awarded to MD/MPH students with experience and special interests in leadership as it relates to public health and medicine.

Meet the Gold Scholarship Recipients
Once enrolled in a program, many full-time MPH or MS students work on a part-time basis as research assistants for faculty members or for the research centers at Dornsife School of Public Health and throughout Drexel University. Many students find a position through the relationships they build with faculty and administrators, or through the School’s career management system, Symplicity. Second-year MPH students are eligible to be teaching assistants for first-year MPH courses. Research and teaching assistantships are generally paid on an hourly basis of $15 per hour, and given to students in good academic standing. Other opportunities throughout the University may also be available.
Drexel University is pleased to partner with City Year to offer a 25 percent annual tuition scholarship.
This scholarship is renewable throughout the length of the academic program (not to exceed four years). City Year alumni must serve at least one year with the program to be eligible, and City Year staff members must be employed for at least two years.

PhD in Public Health Scholarships and Fellowships
Dornsife School of Public Health provides PhD students financial support through training grants, scholarship, stipends, and work as a teaching or research assistants at Drexel University.
PhD applicants are automatically reviewed for a fully funded graduate assistantship, which includes the following: full tuition remission, a health insurance subsidy and a stipend in exchange for 20 hours-a-week of teaching and/or research support, based on department needs. Graduate assistantships can be renewed yearly based on student’s performance and available funding.

Training and Research Opportunities
Drexel Dornsife offers training opportunities for doctoral students conducting urban and global public health research including the following three programs:
Urban Health Collaborative Fellowship: Prospective doctoral students are eligible for the Urban Health Collaborative Doctoral Fellowship Program. Fellows will be supported to conduct urban health research under the mentorship of a faculty research sponsor. Fellows will receive a stipend, full tuition remission and additional support for research and travel. Awards are renewable for a second year.
Drexel-INCAP Training Program: Prospective doctoral students who are citizens from Central American countries and are not permanent residents of a high-income country are eligible for a similar funding package available through the Drexel-INCAP Training Program on Social Determinants of Cardiovascular Disease Over the Life Course, which is an NIH training grant focused on building research capacity in Central America.
Global Alliance for Training in Health Equity Research: Advanced doctoral students (following completion of coursework in the first 2 years) from underrepresented backgrounds are eligible to apply to train with GATHER, which is an NIH training grant focused on minority health and health disparities research.

Prospective students are encouraged to apply for external funding at the same time as they are applying to a program. Matriculated students who are funded by the Department will be encouraged, as is the case with our current students, to make efforts to secure independent funding.
