Gina Bennett

Gina Bennett, AGPC-NP

Gina Bennett is board certified and licensed as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner practicing at the Drexel Student Health Center. She is proficient in emergency room care, school nursing, and dialysis. She practiced as a school nurse for six years in an underserved community where she was able to take the lead in improving the health outcomes of her students and their families. Upon receiving her degree as a nurse practitioner, Gina practiced with Nephrology Associates in Montgomery County, PA.

Gina's ultimate desire is to educate and care for the health of students and young adults. This led her to Drexel University in July of 2017.

April Barnum, DO, CAQSM

April Barnum, DO, CAQSM

April Barnum, DO, CAQSM, is a member of Drexel University's Student Health Center team and has special expertise and training in sports medicine. Board certified in family medicine, osteopathic manipulative treatment, and sports medicine, Dr. Barnum provides comprehensive medical care for Drexel students, including prevention and holistic treatment of illness and injury. She also provides medical care for physically active individuals and student athletes of all skill levels and sports. Coming from a strong athletic background herself, she feels it's important to encourage her patients to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

Dr. Barnum is a native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where she grew up playing South Jersey travel soccer. She graduated magna cum laude from Fordham University - Rose Hill Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) in Stratford, New Jersey, where she attended medical school with her twin sister and younger brother.

Dr. Barnum has a special clinic interest in student health and wellness, soccer medicine, and performing arts medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Barnum enjoys spending time with her family, kickboxing, playing soccer, running, hiking, yoga, Zumba dance fitness, playing classical and electric cello, and traveling!

Bonnie Carrasquillo

Bonnie Carrasquillo

Bonnie Carrasquillo is a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She currently serves as the manager of Drexel's Student Health Center. Since beginning her career at Drexel in 2002, Bonnie's strong leadership skills have allowed her multiple opportunities to grow within the organization. She has held noteworthy lead positions throughout her time at Drexel and has dedicated over twenty years to Drexel's health services. In her spare time, Bonnie has a fondness of lovable cats and provides a loving home to three of her own.

Winifred Custus, RN

Winifred Custus, RN

Winifred Custus is a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse with over thirty years of experience. Winifred graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, with an extensive background in gastroenterology. Winifred came on board as the Drexel Student Health Center registered nurse in January 2021 and has since committed her service to triaging and caring for all patients at the Student Health Center.

Gary Davis, MD, is board certified in family medicine and practices at the Drexel Student Health Center. He is a staunch advocate for engaged compassionate care for all. He strives to become an ever-improving servant leader. Prior to coming to Drexel, Dr. Davis worked in a variety of settings including military, public health, and private practice. Most recently, he served as chief medical officer and, subsequently, chief executive Officer at Federally Qualified Health Centers in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Kim-Huong Nguyen, DO

Kim-Huong Nguyen, DO

Kim-Huong Nguyen, DO, is board certified in family medicine and practices at the Drexel Student Health Center. Her interests include preventive medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine, and she has a passion for integrating acupuncture to help promote wellness. Prior to coming to Drexel, Dr. Nguyen worked as a primary care staff physician at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. She is a native Vietnamese speaker.

Amanda Tjaden, CRNP

Amanda Tjaden, CRNP

Amanda Tjaden, CRNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with seven years of varied clinical experience, including walk-in clinics, family practice, and community health. She received her BSN degree from Creighton University in 2010 and her MSN degree from Maryville University in Saint Louis in 2016. Her clinical interests range from health promotion and disease prevention, hypertension management, sexual health, reproductive justice and culturally competent care. Tjaden moved from the Midwest to Philadelphia in 2020. She enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to live music, playing with her two young nephews, and loves to travel.
