Gratitude

Gratitude is the practice of being aware of and thankful for the good things that happen (Park & Peterson, 2006). Research continues to show that practicing gratitude can improve mental health, improve relationships, enhance self-worth, and even enhance physical well-being. There are many ways to practice gratitude. Here are a few below to help you get started with your gratitude practice:

  • Keep a gratitude journal: Establish a daily practice of reminding yourself of small, ordinary, or good things you enjoy.
  • Practice a gratitude meditation
  • Take time to notice what's around you – tune into the present moment
  • Share gratitude with loved ones
  • Take time to savor – practice the art of slowing down and appreciating small elements
