Work Location Certification
January 12, 2021
As Drexel University students, faculty and professional staff continue to return to campus, the Office of the Comptroller recognizes that schedules will change regularly and work duties may be performed at different locations. Drexel University is responsible for withholding payroll taxes based on the location(s) where employees work. It is the responsibility of employees to provide accurate and complete information.
To accommodate changing schedules, the Payroll Office, in collaboration with Drexel University Information Technology, has developed a DrexelOne application to certify work location. The application allows for schedules to be split between Drexel University campuses and the certified employee home address. The Work Location Certification app is accessible via the Employee Information channel on the Employee tab of DrexelOne.
Certifying your work location is a three-step process (two steps for non-PA residents):
- Certify your home address and update it, if necessary.
- For Pennsylvania residents only, certify your municipality from the drop-down menu. (Non-Pennsylvania residents will automatically skip this step.)
- Indicate where you are performing your work and the percentage of time spent at each location. If the locations and times will remain consistent, you do not have to do this step every pay period. If you are paid biweekly, changes should be made by the last working day of the pay period; if you are paid monthly, changes should be made no later than the 18th day of the month. Any changes will take effect in the next available pay period. Additional instructions are available on the Office of the Comptroller's website under the Miscellaneous category of Payroll Instructions.
Your current setup of state and local taxes from calendar year 2020 will carry forward until you complete your certification.
