Clarification on Usage and Renaming of Account Code 3673 to "Participant Payments"
November 30, 2020
We recently introduced a new account code, account 3673, and it was initially titled “Clinical Trial Incentives”. Based on feedback from the University community on this account, we have decided to rename the account to “Participant Payments” as it has a broader scope than just clinical trials. This account should only be used to capture costs related to monetary payments or gift cards given as a token of thanks to participants in research or clinical trials. This account code will be subject to indirect cost calculations.
Account code 3670, “Participant Expense”, continues to be an active account and should be used to capture direct costs for items that a participant is being reimbursed for such as time (i.e. stipends or subsistence allowances), travel, meals, or lodging. This account code is NOT subject to indirect costs.
If you have any questions about how to utilize either account code please contact email@example.com.
