MATTHEW ANTICOLE

Behind Every Graduate Award - Matthew Anticole

Nominated by Malena Williams, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems

Matthew Anticole is a National Board Certified physics teacher at Norwin High School outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His involvements include starting and running the high school science club, volunteering as PTA District Science Fair Chairperson, and organizing the annual Science Alumni Day, which brings STEM college students and recent graduates to the school to share their perspectives. Matthew has his Masters in Science Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He lives in Norwin School District with his wife, Erin, and children, Amanda and Isaac (whom he notes is not named after Isaac Newton).

PATRICK CLARKE

Behind Every Graduate Award - Patrick Clarke

Nominated by Ashley Allan, School of Education

Patrick Clarke is finishing his second year as Coordinator of Instruction for the Vestal Central School District, where his responsibilities include K-12 professional development; English as a Second Language (ESL); and student assessment and teacher evaluation. Patrick will pursue a doctorate in Educational Theory and Practice at Binghamton University in Fall 2015. His goal is to study the impact of state-level educational policies on local initiatives, particularly in the areas of social studies and ESL. Patrick taught Social Studies for 11 years at Binghamton High School and Susquehanna Valley High School. As a teacher, he focused on building meaningful relationships with students and helping them develop strong reading, writing and critical thinking skills through inquiry-based lessons. He is also a proud father of three and a dedicated husband.

KATHRYN MANZO

Behind Every Graduate Award - Kathryn Mazo

Nominated by Claire Rabinowitz, Westphal College of Media Arts & Design

Kathryn Manzo is the founder and teacher of the Lausanne Collegiate School's "The Michelangelo Project," America's first classical fine-art atelier that has been fully integrated into a traditional school-day for middle and high school-aged students. There, she also teaches International Baccalaureate Visual Arts. Kathryn's students have consistently been recognized in local and national competitions and have gained entrance to America's top universities, colleges, and art and design schools. As a former art director, Kathryn's award-winning designs have promoted the books of best-selling authors like John Updike, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Toni Morrison. Kathryn is the proud mother of Bailey Morris, who just graduated from high school and will be attending the University of Tennessee Chancellor's Honors Program in public relations and French.

LINDA MCDONOUGH

Behind Every Graduate Award - Linda McDonough

Nominated by Jacklyn Briguglio, College of Engineering Linda McDonough has taught for 21 years at Aberdeen High School and has spent the last eight years in their Science and Mathematics Academy. Her content area is science, and she has taught a variety of science classes including AP Biology. Linda is also a varsity swim coach and the faculty advisor for the Green Team, an environmental group responsible for sustainability, recycling efforts, and planting a produce and native plant garden.
