May 23, 2016

Meghan O’Donnell, MS environmental policy ’18, received a $2,500 Graduate Student Scholarship from the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) of Greater Philadelphia, a nonprofit professional association of women involved or interested in environmental law, science, business and policy.

The Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP), a nonprofit professional association of women interested and involved in the environmental field, awards up to two scholarships annually to women who are pursuing graduate or law degrees in the field. This year a $2,500 Graduate Student Scholarship was awarded to Meghan O’Donnell, MS environmental policy ’18.  In addition to pursuing her master’s in environmental policy, Meghan also currently serves as a Staff Scientist at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, where she focuses her efforts on the Delaware River Watershed Initiative. The selection process for the scholarship required an essay, transcripts and a panel interview with the committee. When asked about winning the scholarship O’Donnell replied, “I honestly was very shocked. Being ambitious and motivated, I try to apply myself whenever possible. I was very excited when I was selected for an interview, but have conditioned myself to be grounded until I have solid confirmation regarding opportunities. When the scholarship committee contacted me, I was beaming!”
