Drexel Society of Physics Students Wins Awards
January 28, 2015
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) received a $2,000 research award from the American Institute of Physics for their project “Cosmic-Ray Induced Bit-Flipping Experiment (CRIBFLEX).” The group, led by physics majors Ed Callaghan and Matthew Parsons, will conduct a mid-altitude weather balloon experiment to measure the effects of cosmic rays on electronic memory storage devices.
The SPS also received the 2015 “Future Faces of Physics” award. This award is presented to chapters "to support projects designed to promote physics across cultures." The Chapter will be organizing outreach events at local all-girls high schools.
