Alison Kenner, PhD, assistant professor in the Center for Science, Technology & Society and Department of History and Politics, and Mimi Sheller, PhD, professor of sociology and director of the Center for Mobilities Research and Policy, are co-PIs for Shifting Energy Cultures, a series of lectures on electricity systems, power usage, and ‘smart’ technologies in the context of campus energy usage and efficiency.
Other PIs for the project are from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chika Nwankpa, PhD, professor, Dagmar Niebur, associate professor, and Karen Miu, PhD, professor.
The Shifting Energy Cultures Series is part of a multi-disciplinary research project funded by the A. J. Drexel Institute for Energy and the Environment that explores the social ordering of choices, problems and practices that shape “energy cultures” in campus environments using Drexel’s “smart grid” building system as a case study and living lab.
