Final Week for Spanish Book Drive

October 25, 2012

books in a library

In honor of Latino Heritage Month, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of English and Philosophy, and the Office of Equality and Diversity are sponsoring a Spanish Book Drive to benefit the Mahatma Ghandi Foundation in the small town of Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic. The mission of the Foundation is to improve the community’s quality of life through service and development in education, health, the environment and the arts. The Anacaona Community Library, housed in the Foundation’s quarters, is the town’s only free library, serving both children and adults through its literacy programs.

Until the end of October, please bring new/used books of all kinds and levels in Spanish to these locations and drop them in the labeled bin:

  • 5th floor MacAlister, across from elevators
  • Drexel University Book Store
  • Creese Information Desk
  • James E. Marks Intercultural Center
  • Hagerty Library
