Physics Colloquium: From LASERs to Lessons

Thursday, November 12, 2020

3:30 PM-4:30 PM

Alison Murray, Science Teacher, Central Falls High School

What happens when a physicist after a career in industry becomes a teacher at an inner city high school notorious for its failure?
This talk will briefly cover my background and how I got from Drexel to my current position as a science teacher at Central Falls High School. It will then focus on the trials and tribulations of teaching physics and science in an inner city school as well as the state of secondary education in our country as a whole. It will conclude with where secondary education is going and needs to go in the future.
