Ayoub has been named the 2014 winner of the American Political Science Association Human Rights Section award for the Best Dissertation in two categories: Human Rights and Sexuality & Politics. His dissertation, “When States ‘Come Out’: The Politics of Visibility and the Diffusion of Sexual Minority Rights in Europe” also won Cornell University’s Esman Prize for Distinguished Scholarship.
