On May 25, 2011, the Department of History & Politics inducted its latest group of students into Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. 2011 inductees

Senior Hannah Bennett, 2010-2011 chapter president, led the initiation ceremony.

Professor Robert Zaller provided the evening's featured program, a short talk on his recent book, The Discourse of Legitimacy in Early Modern England, drawing comparisons with governments' recent loss of legitimacy in the "Arab spring."

We also congratulate Phi Alpha Theta's graduating seniors: Stephen Artim, Hannah Bennett, Ian Charlton, Kristopher Ruth, Justin Ulmer, Josh Wallace, and Amanda Zellner.

To be eligible, students must have 12 credits of history, a 3.1 GPA in history, and a 3.0 overall GPA (students are not required to be history majors). Professor Kathryn Steen is the Phi Alpha Theta advisor. For more information about Phi Alpha Theta, see or contact Professor Steen.
