Shawn Trenell O’Neal, a fourth year PhD candidate, international DJ, producer and performer from Illinois, is the instructor. In this course we will utilize the contemporary and developing multi-disciplinary theory Audio Intersectionality, and it’s subsets Audio Racialization, Audio Confrontation, Audio Assigning (ment), and Trans Audio, as a theoretical and action-based foundation conjoining intersectional contexts with sound, music, and performance studies to determine, demarcate, and evaluate the methods in which sound, music, and social performance has been used operationally as a method of subjugation and normalization.
