This is a new column that I will be writing for our newsletter. Each month I will highlight something in the nursing division as a way to keep everyone abreast of what is occurring in Nursing at Drexel.
We are getting ready for the fall quarter where will be experiencing increased growth in our undergraduate nursing programs both the Co-op and the ACE programs. We also are experiencing growth in our advanced role programs and our nurse practitioner programs.
Two new master programs are being implemented this fall quarter. The master’s in Quality, Safety and Risk Management in Health Care, both for nurses and non-nurses offers an MSN for nurses and an MS for non-nurses. The other master’s is the MS in Complementary and Integrative Health. Both of these programs are interprofessional.
I am delighted to report that the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing recently approved the new Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) program. This is a 15-credit post-master’s certificate program for family and adult-gero primary care nurse practitioners. This program will begin implementation in the winter quarter of 2018.
College Factual has rated our undergraduate nursing programs as #2 in the Nation and #1 in the State of Pennsylvania. Congratulations to our undergraduate and health professions faculty and staff who serve our students so well.
I want to congratulate the following individuals on their upcoming induction into the American Academy of Nursing. Being inducted as a Fellow in the Academy is considered one of nursing’s highest honors. The inductees are:
- Joan Rosen Bloch, PhD, CRNP
- Theresa Campo, DNP, FNP-C, ENP-BC, FAANP
- Kymberlee Montgomery, DrNP, CRNP-BC, CNE, FAANP
The induction ceremony will be held in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
We are so excited about and happy to share all that’s happening in nursing at Drexel. More to come in future editions.
