Quinlan Selected for USDA National Advisory Committee

Jennifer Quinlan, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences, was selected to be a member of a prestigious board for the United States Department of Agriculture: the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Material for Foods. This committee is charged with providing recommendations to the Secretaries of Agriculture and Health and Human Services (HHS) on microbiological criteria by which the safety and wholesomeness of food can be assessed. That work includes criteria for microorganisms that indicate whether foods have been adequately and appropriately processed. Quinlan’s appointment is for two years, between 2013 and 2015.
