Patricia Shewokis, PhD, who has a dual appointment in the Departments of Nutrition Sciences and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, is a co-author on a journal manuscript that was recently published in the prestigious journal, The Journal of Neural Engineering.
Misra, A., Kondaveeti, P., Nissanov, J., Barbee, K., Shewokis, P., Rioux, L., & Moxon, K.A. (2013). Preventing neuronal damage and inflammation invivo during cortical microelectrode implantation through the use of Poloxamer P-188. Journal of Neural Engineering, 10(1) 016011. DOI:10.1088/1741-2560/10/1/016011.
She and her co-op student Mashaal Syed were also co-authors on a paper that will be presented at the IEEE World Haptics Conference 2013, the 5th Joint Eurohaptics Conference, and IEEE Haptics Symposium. Their paper, “Understanding the Role of Haptic Feedback in a Teleoperated/Prosethetic Grasp and Lift Task,” also included the work of co-authors Jeremy DeLaine Brown, Andrew Paek, Marcia O’Malley, Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal, Brent Gillespie, and Alecia Davis.
Finally, Shewokis also co-authored “Vibrotactile Feedback of Pose Error Enhances Myoelectric Control of a Prosthetic Hand,” another paper that will be presented at the conferences and symposium.
