July 29, 2013
Nursing faculty member Carol Patton, PhD, has been Chair of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified (FNP-BC) for 8 years. She is a member of the ANCC’s Content Expert Panel for the FNP specialty, which is comprised of a select group of nursing experts from across the country who are tasked with the development of the specialty’s ANCC certification examination. In June, Patton attended a test development meeting at the ANCC / American Nurses Association (ANA) Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Patton said that serving in the leadership capacity as Chair has been a privilege, and that it is a role she is going to miss very much. “This is a very prestigious role and I want Drexel to get accolades for allowing me time for this important national committee work, contribution to professional nursing, and for allowing me to be a leader in this global initiative,” Patton said.
