O’Neil Appointed to American Physical Therapy Association Task Force and Expert Evaluation Panel
December 1, 2012
Margaret (Maggie) O’Neil, PhD, was appointed to a newly formed American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) task force dedicated to exploring the role of physical therapists in prevention, wellness, fitness, and disease management. Her one-year appointment during the 2013 calendar year will require her to work with six other members of the national task force and assist the APTA Board of Directors in setting goals and priorities for the Association in practice, education, research, and public policy in this era of health care reform. The special task force will additionally formulate and recommend strategies to promote and support the role of physical therapists in these areas of practice.
Among O’Neil’s other recent accomplishments, she was named an expert member of a national panel to evaluate the I Can Do It! You Can Do It! Program, which is supported by the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition with a focus on health promotion, active recreation, fitness, and physical activity in children and in youth with disabilities.
