Spotlight on Family Weekend 2012

November 1, 2012

On Saturday November 3, faculty, staff, and students from the College of Nursing and Health Professions hosted the annual Family Day on the Center City Campus. Students were invited to bring their parents, siblings, and other family members to learn more about opportunities and curricula. The day began at 9:00 AM when attendees were invited to a Meet & Greet Brunch at Jazzman’s Café in the New College Building. Shortly after, a student panel provided an opportunity for family members and new students to ask questions about the various programs of study.

Numerous faculty and staff members were present for the panel, including BSN academic advisor Rachel Fretz, Dr. Michael Kennedy, Department Chair and Professor of the Health Sciences Department, and Deanna Schaffer of the Undergraduate Nursing Accelerated Career Entry BSN Program. They were accompanied by senior students in both the Nursing and Health Services Administration Departments. Together they provided everything from tips on how to study for their classes to an explanation of the graduate school application process.

Dr. Leland Rockstraw, Assistant Dean of Simulation, Clinical & Technology Academic Operations, concluded the panel discussion and answered questions about Drexel’s Simulation Lab. Dr. Rockstraw then took the students and their family members on a tour of the Simulation Lab and to a simulation demonstration.
