Byrne Presents Poster Abstract on Cancer-related Health Disparities

October 1, 2012

Michael DreherSharon Byrne, DrNP, an assistant clinical professor in the Graduate Nursing Division and the Track Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, had her poster abstract displayed November 2 at The National Institute of Health’s 2012 Eliminating Health Disparities Summit in National Harbor, Maryland. Her abstract is titled “Addressing Breast, Cervical, and Colorectal Cancer Related Health Disparities: Cancer Education and Screening in Underserved Asian Indio Women within Southern New Jersey.”

“Eliminating cancer-related health disparities through effective outreach, partnerships, and collaboration is a passion of mine and this is what my past and current research and practice is focused on. To be chosen to be a presenter and highlight this work with individuals from across the U.S. and worldwide who share that same passion at the 2012 Summit is truly an honor,” Byrne said.

Byrne attended her first summit in 2010 on a referral from Dr. Joan Bloch. At the time, Byrne was in the DrNP Program at the College and Dr. Bloch was on her dissertation committee.
