Jose Barcega and Rose Ann DiMaria-Ghalili Earn Spots on Top 100 Nursing Professors List
October 1, 2012
Professors Jose Barcega and Rose Ann DiMaria-Ghalili, PhD, have each been awarded a spot on the Top 100 Nursing Professors in 2012 List by BSNtoMSN.org. Professors Barcega and DiMaria-Ghalili were selected based upon the academic rankings of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the awards and recognitions each have respectively earned, recommendations from their peers, student reviews, and on the quantity and quality of academic publications that have resulted from their work.
“Nurses are taking the front seat in the health care industry both in the U.S. and internationally these days,” BSNtoMSN.org prefaced. “As health care costs rise and insurance becomes less affordable, nurses are providing more of the primary health care that was once the domain of MDs, and this added demand has made nursing education and the training of a newly skilled nursing workforce more important than ever before. This list acknowledges 100 of the best and brightest professors, assistant professors, and instructors who are teaching the next generation of nurses to handle increasing responsibility.”
The Top 100 List is presented in no particular order, though Professor Barcega, who is an assistant clinical professor in the Physician Assistant Department, can be found at spot #12. DiMaria-Ghalili, who is featured on the list in the 13th position, has a dual appointment as an assistant professor in both the Nutrition Sciences Department and the Doctor of Nursing Practice Department.
Congratulations, Professors Barcega and DiMaria-Ghalili!
