Drexel CNHP Web Administrator Wins Art Award

Debora Weber, watercolorist and web administrator for the College of Nursing and Health Professions of Drexel University, has won The Mildred Beizer Prize for still life in the 99th Annual Members Medal Show of The Plastic Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The opening reception for the show is Sunday, May 15th from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.. Weber, formerly a professional illustrator, has been creating paintings and collage since 2002 and became a member of The Plastic Club in 2005. Ms. Weber earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Liberal Art from Lake Erie College, Painesville, Ohio including study abroad at Ruskin School of Drawing, Oxford University, England. After graduation she attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA, to study commercial art and illustration. She worked as a freelance professional illustrator and graphic designer in the publishing and packaging fields before becoming a web designer for Arcadia University, The University of Pennsylvania and currently Drexel University.
Weber lives in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania with her husband where they raised a son and daughter. In addition to painting, she enjoys horticulture and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.
The Plastic Club, located at 247 South Camac Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (near City Hall) is the oldest women's art society in America, founded in March of 1897 and expanding membership to men in 1991. The society offers art classes as well as exhibitions.
