Effective April 1, 2011, Susan Smith, PT, PhD will assume the position of Associate Dean for Research and Health Professions Graduate Programs   Smith joined Drexel University in 2004 and has served as Chair of Rehabilitation Sciences since 2006.  She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (BS), holds an MS in Health Science Instruction from Texan Woman’s University as well as a PhD in Kinesiology (Biomechanics).  Smith’s background and experience as a teacher, practitioner and researcher position her well to assume this role.  She is has a solid history as a researcher on interdisciplinary teams which is a strategic interest of the College and University.  As a member of these teams, she has received NIH, State of Texas and private foundation funding. She has many publications to her credit and continues as a manuscript reviewer for the journal Physical Therapy.  Smith teaches and supervises the dissertations of doctoral students in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences.  She has mentored junior faculty and has strongly supported the development of faculty practices for Rehabilitation Sciences faculty.
