Dean Gloria Donnelly Wins Honorable Mention at CASE
January 28, 2011
Dean Gloria Donnelly of Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions won honorable mention in the special events portion of the 2011 Accolades Award Winners from the Council For Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Winners are to be honored at the CASE DII Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland on Monday, February 7th.
Dean Donnelly won for her comedic “StandUp” performance for a newly created Dean’s Emergency Fund.
“The endowment, the Dean’s Emergency Fund, it’s for students who have short-term financial problems, like ‘I can’t pay the rent this month,’” Donnelly said.
An innovative and creative way to help students, a Dean who does standup is a one-of-a-kind distinction. However, though the cause is serious, the material and atmosphere during the performance is light.
“The material I do, people can relate to. They are kind of stupid, fun things that we all can relate to.”
