Kevin Gard, DPT, Associate Clinical Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Nursing & Health Professions was appointed by President Fry to a 3-year term as the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for Drexel University.

The FAR serves as a liaison between the faculty and the athletics department. Each NCAA member institution is required to appoint a FAR. According to the Faculty Athletics Representatives Association (FARA), "the role of the FAR is to ensure that the academic institution establishes and maintains the appropriate balance between academics and intercollegiate athletics." Further, "the FAR is recognized as the representative of the institution and its faculty in the relationship between the NCAA and the local campus." (NCAA Bylaw 4.02.2)
