Lisa Schmidt, PhD joined the faculty in 2005, after working twenty-six years in community behavioral health care in New Jersey. She has extensive grant writing and program development experience. As a director of community behavioral health services she has overseen the operations of partial care, residential, case management and family support services.
She frequently conducts lectures and workshops for caregivers, community providers and other professionals. Schmidt teaches courses in child and family services, psychopharmacology, recovery and relapse prevention, psychiatric rehabilitation, research methods and group counseling. Her research interests include the identification of best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation, illness management and recovery and family psycho-education.
Schmidt is currently on the Board of Directors for CareLink Support Services in Philadelphia, and is an editorial board member for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal. She has a growing body of publications including peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and an edited book “People in Recovery as Providers of Psychiatric Rehabilitation”.
Her research interests include the identification of best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation, illness management and recovery and family psycho-education.
