Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
The Department of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will not be accepting new applications for the program.
The Department of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provides education and training to a range of audiences, including first responders, medical students and emergency medicine residents. The division also provides medical direction services to MidAtlantic Medevac and offers professional guidance and training to Drexel EMS.
American Heart Association (AHA) Training
The Division of EMS is an authorized training center for the American Heart Association. We provide training in:
- Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid (training for the general public)
- BLS (CPR for healthcare providers)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
EMS Training Center
Emergency Medical Services is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS as a Basic Life Support Training Center. Our primary goal is to provide training to those wishing to become emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
The Department provides high-quality trauma education to our physician clients and nursing staff, including Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Trauma Care for Nursing (ATCN).
Medical Student and Resident Training
The Department coordinates and assists in the management of the emergency medical services rotation for residents and medical students during their emergency medicine rotations.
Service to the Community
We offer professional guidance to Drexel EMS, the volunteer student organization that provides emergency medical care to Drexel's University City Campus.
