The Center for Interprofessional Clinical Simulation and Practice (CICSP) is designed to simulate clinical settings, providing undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to learn and enhance their skills. Our learning and evaluative assessment labs provide a safe clinical and psychological environment where students experience real-world scenarios to build competence and confidence in their skills.
The 22,000-square-foot lab incorporates technology that allows faculty to control and monitor real-world clinical settings that aid in student education and evaluation. Interactions between students and computerized mannequins within the controlled simulation labs are observed and recorded for later viewing and evaluation by faculty and/or peers. This comprehensive, hands-on learning model provides the optimal environment for students to develop skills, learn from mistakes, and become adept and competent caregivers for patients.
All programs within the College of Nursing and Health Professions use the labs, making the space an interdisciplinary learning environment with a wide breadth of learning possibilities. Supported by advanced technology and an innovative learning model, CICSP enhances students’ core education by providing supervised instruction in controlled settings to graduate competent care providers.
The mission of the Center for Interprofessional Clinical Simulation and Practice (CICSP) at Drexel University for its College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) is:
to provide a safe, professional environment to enhance patient safety education, as well as effective and efficient communication through the use of interprofessional teams, innovative technology, and training methods;
to provide evidence-based simulation to advance the translation of healthcare education into clinical practice; and
to provide an engaging interprofessional learning environment that supports the mission and values of the College as well as educational objectives for all CNHP students.
