Intellectual Property Policy

The intellectual property policy for this Challenge is separate and distinct from Drexel University’s policy and students should carefully read the Challenge policy and ensure they understand it.

If students produce protectable intellectual property (e.g., a patent for a new, nonobvious and useful process) by default, Drexel students will own their intellectual property. However, in the event that TiVo wishes to assert ownership of any such intellectual property, then TiVo will inform the students, Drexel and Real Industry at the outset of the program that their IP will be owned by TiVo, and TiVo will be given the opportunity to enter into private agreements with students, Drexel and/or Real Industry for revenue share and other incentives, including TiVo royalties on patent licenses
