Innovation Hackathon - Saturday, Feb 8 from 10am-5pm
This hackathon introduces students to how to develop forward-thinking technology and innovative business ideas. This event guides students through numerous processes to develop their best innovations at the intersection of media & entertainment technology.
Lunch and snacks will be served. Please bring your favorite computing device to the event.
Idea Submissions deadline March 8, 2020
After the event, students will have 2-4 weeks to submit their ideas.
Students can submit as many ideas as they wish if they meet all the requirements for submission including patentability.
Ideas will be submitted through an online portal provided by TiVo. This will require that students electronically sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement (MNDA) and review intellectual property considerations as dictated by TiVo.
Business Plans – March 2020
After the hackathon, students will work with Real Industry to develop their business plans for taking one or two of their ideas to market. After reviewing the student business plans, top ideas will be selected. Those students will present their business plan in-person to a panel of Real Industry’s network of mentors.
Invention selection – April 2020
TiVo will select inventions for patenting and notify the inventors. Inventors will be invited to participate in the patent process including interviewing with patent attorneys and signing documents. Inventors will also be expected to provide TiVo with ongoing current contact information throughout the patent process.
Final Presentations - April 2020
Students having the top ideas will be invited to present their business plan to the Real Industry panel. A final winner will be selected and announced in April 2020.
Final Presentations will also act as a casting call for Meet The Drapers Season 4.
Post-Challenge (April 2020+)
Provided are extra incentives and continued mentorship and for the potential for Juniors to work on their ideas as a Senior Design Project.
