Drexel University’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) was awarded a $4 million grant (over five years) by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to launch an innovative program to build a diverse talent pipeline for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
The CyberCorps® Mentoring and Scholarship Program (CMSP) at CCI is designed to recruit, train and mentor undergraduate student scholars to transition into cybersecurity positions within federal, state, local, or tribal government organizations. A core focus of Drexel CCI’s CMSP is to strengthen national cybersecurity by supporting a diverse cybersecurity workforce, including recruiting and retaining women, underrepresented minorities, and veterans.
As part of the program, CCI will develop a CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service (SFS) initiative that can contribute to improving cybersecurity by increasing the number and diversity of undergraduate students who complete cybersecurity degrees and then take positions within government agencies.
We have completed filling our first three cohorts of CyberCorps students. Applications are not being accepted right now. We are waiting to see if our grant renewal application will be accepted. Please check back in summer 2024 for any updates.
Drexel's CyberCorps program is only for undergraduate students. If a future application round opens, Drexel students can only apply when they are pre-juniors at Drexel. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be Drexel students in good academic standing.
