Major: BS/MS Computer Science (Concentration: Game Programming & Development)

Year: Junior

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

I chose this major because... I wanted to be involved in STEM, especially with engineering, but none of the more hands-on engineering majors appealed to me as much as Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Favorite Course:  CS 164 Introduction to Computer Science- Favorite teacher, and the course that really solidified my choice of being a computer science major.

Clubs/Extracurricular Activities: Percussion Ensemble, Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), Anime Gaming Organization

Co-ops I've done: I haven't had any co-ops yet, but some companies that I would be interested in are Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia. I want to do something that involves either graphics and performance, software development, or game creation, so while those are at the top, I'm still very open minded.

Favorite thing/place at Drexel: I can't decide on just one place, but my top two places for me to be are the Commuter Lounge in the Creese Student Center, and the piano practice rooms on the second floor of MacAlister.

When I'm not at Drexel, I'm... doing homework..... But when I'm done with that, I'll play some video games, hang out with friends, read, play piano, and relax.

When you are in Philadelphia, I think you should... visit the Cinemark Movie Theater down around UPenn's campus. Not a bad theater, and the closest to the college if you're stuck on campus without a ride.

Advice to new/incoming CCI students:  Be prepared to time manage. You cannot expect to do well in an environment like Drexel without understanding how much work you need to put in while you're learning. Sometimes, you need to put fun activities to the side in order to get an assignment done, or study material for a test. You don't get many chances to redeem yourself in a 10-week quarter if you mess up at the beginning, so learning how to finish important stuff, but not stress yourself out, is vital to thriving at Drexel.

What is your dream job? Becoming a lead game designer at Nintendo. Or working as a software engineer at Google. Either one works for me.

Favorite Animated Character: Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Hi, I'm Widchard, a computer science major here at Drexel (although you probably figured that out if you've read my page). I, as well as my other fellow Dean’s Ambassadors, am here to lend a helping hand through your CCI journey. Good luck and have fun while at Drexel University!
