Computer Science

CCI offers one of the best minors in computer science with courses that cover a breadth of foundational computing theory. If you’re seeking to complement your major but find yourself wondering, “is a computer science minor enough?” you should know that our minor curriculum also includes select advanced courses, allowing students of any major to dive deeply into solving complex computing problems.  

The computer science minor provides students with a breadth of knowledge in areas that form the foundation of computer science, as well as a depth through a selection of advanced computer science courses. The computer science minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Computer Science majors.

Computing Technology

There is an increasing demand for individuals with technology skills in today's Internet-dominated society. In the near future, people in all fields may become more and more responsible for building and/or using computer networks, and will work with increasingly more complex websites and intranets. Any Drexel student in any major can benefit from a minor in computing technology, which combines basic courses in computing technology required to help organizations build infrastructure solutions.

Graduates of our computing technology minor are prepared to actively participate in the application of technology within their major area of study. The minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Computing and Security Technology majors.

Data Science

A minor in data science gives you the tools to make sense of large-scale data in a technology-driven world. Students who complete this minor are prepared to provide unique insights and promote social good for business and science organizations. 

Our data science minor combines basic courses in statistics, information and technology and social contexts to address problems that require large and disparate datasets. The data science minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Data Science majors.

Human Computer Interaction

Students who complete the human computer interaction minor at CCI are equipped to improve user experience and enable collaborative problem solving among groups. Coursework in this minor introduces students to a wide variety of settings for applying their knowledge, including web and app development, artificial intelligence, visual analytics, game development, social media analytics, and more. 

The human computer interaction minor combines basic courses in areas including human-centered design, collaborative work and graphical user interfaces. The minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Computing and Security Technology, BS in Information Systems, or BS in Data Science majors.

Information Systems

The information systems curriculum offers a technical focus on high-level system design, databases, and human-computer interaction. With a minor in information systems, our graduates are able to design technical solutions for real world problems, bridging the communication gap between business professionals and technical experts. 

Our information systems minor combines basic courses in areas including human-computer interaction, systems analysis, database management systems and computer networking technology. The information systems minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Information Systems majors.

Security Technology

Students who pursue a minor in security technology are prepared to help organizations keep their data and computer systems safe from cybersecurity threats. Graduates of our security technology minor gain essential cross-industry skills for today’s internet-dominated society. 

The security technology minor combines basic courses in security and technology required to help organizations keep their computer systems secure. The security technology minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Computing and Security Technology majors.

Software Engineering

Our minor in software engineering provides students with an opportunity to design and improve large software systems. Courses in the software engineering minor focus on human-centered, user-friendly design and offer hands-on experience in leading software development teams. 

The software engineering minor provides an overview of the fundamentals of software engineering, including computer programming, software design and architecture, software verification and validation, and data structures. The software engineering minor is available to all University students in good standing, except BS in Software Engineering majors.
