Summer to Fall Break Housing
Residents remaining in their summer assignments for Fall Term
Students with vacancies in their room or suite should expect to receive a new roommate or suitemate. Please ensure that your suite and/or bedroom is ready to accept a new roommate by tidying all common spaces, cleaning your bathroom, and removing personal belongings from any unused bedroom furniture. Failure to prepare your space for a new roommate will result in a moving/cleaning fine. Housing and Residence Life is not responsible for any belongings that are lost or stolen should University staff or contracted vendors need to move personal belongings for an incoming student.
Residents moving to a different assignment from Summer To Fall Term
On Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10 a.m., Drexel University residence halls will close for the Summer to all students WITHOUT a Fall 2019 assignment. On Sunday, September 8, 2019, Housing and Residence Life will operate the quarterly Term Switch process for those students who are moving into a Fall assignment. For example: A student living in North Hall this summer who has a Caneris Hall assignment in the fall, will move into their Fall assignment on September 8, 2019.
Term Break Housing is available to all students with both a Summer 2019 and a Fall 2019 assignment. There is no fee for Term Break Housing. All students will reside in their Fall 2019 assignment over Term Break.
Timeline of Term Switch:
|Saturday, September 7, 2019
||By 10 a.m.: All students who do NOT have a Fall 2019 Housing Assignment must move out.
|Sunday, September 8, 2019
Term Switch starts at 10 a.m. Consult your Closing Notice, sent to your Drexel email account, for your personalized move-out time and instructions.
Students participating in Term Switch whose rooms are available prior to September 10 will be given an opportunity to term switch earlier - please refer to your email for more information.
The Term Switch Process is designed to close one academic term and open another on the same day. Housing and Residence Life staff will be on-site to manage this process.
Special notes regarding your move:
- Housing and Residence Life will have custodial staff go into your new assignment prior to your arrival. This is a light cleaning and designed to provide service in your new bedroom only. Housing and Residence Life encourage all remaining students to thoroughly clean their suites/apartments, including kitchens and bathrooms, prior to your arrival.
- Custodial staff may come to your suite during the Term Break week to do additional cleaning.
- Please note that it is very possible that you will be moving into an assignment on Term Switch Day that was vacated earlier that day. For this reason, Housing and Residence Life may need extra time to prepare the space for your arrival.
