Get Your DragonCard
The DragonCard is the official University ID card for students, faculty and professional staff and must be carried at all times while on University-owned property. Many buildings require this card for access. This card is property of Drexel University and is governed by the rules and regulations set forth by the University. The DragonCard is not transferable and must not be used by anyone other than the issued cardholder. Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional information regarding DragonCard policies.
There is no charge for an initial DragonCard for students, faculty and professional staff; however, there is a $20 replacement fee if a DragonCard is lost. Non-employees and visiting students/scholars may acquire a DragonCard for a fee, and the sponsoring department will have to provide a cost center for payment.
Please note that the DragonCard contains a photograph of the individual. These headshots are taken at a DragonCard office or the individual submits their own photo.
A valid photo driver's license, passport or state-issued photo ID is required to receive a DragonCard.
As a student arrives at Drexel for the first time, they receive a DragonCard, the official University ID card. The DragonCard will be used daily throughout a student's time at Drexel (also required for building access), thus it should be kept with the student and stored in a safe location. There is a $20 replacement fee for a lost card.
For new undergraduate and transfer students, the DragonCard is distributed during the New Student Orientation or New Students Day during Welcome Week.
Graduate residents will obtain their DragonCard during the move-in process. Graduate students who do not reside in a Drexel Residence Hall must pick up their DragonCard during Graduate Student Orientation.
Drexel University College of Medicine students will obtain their DragonCard during New Student Orientation.
Visiting Medical Students are eligible to purchase a temporary DragonCard for $15/rotation that will provide access to the New College Building and Hahnemann University Hospital.
A temporary DragonCard requires a sponsor department. The sponsor department must send a request for a temporary DragonCard to email@example.com no later than three business days prior to the student's arrival. The email request from the sponsor department must include: the student's full name, start date and end date. Upon arrival, the visiting student may pick up a temporary DragonCard at a DragonCard Office.
At the end of the visiting student's rotation, the student must surrender their temporary DragonCard to the sponsor department and the sponsor department must destroy the card.
Kline School of Law students will obtain their DragonCard during New Student Orientation.
Online students are eligible for a DragonCard if currently enrolled in courses. Online students have two options for a DragonCard:
- With photo identification: Online students may pick up a DragonCard at a DragonCard Office. A valid, government-issued photo ID is required.
- Without photo identification: Online students may require a non-photo DragonCard be mailed to the address on the student's record. To request a non-photo DragonCard, complete this form. The DragonCard Office will not mail DragonCards together with photo identification.
Drexel University, Drexel University College of Medicine, and the Academy of Natural Sciences employees are eligible for a DragonCard after new-hire paperwork is completed by Human Resources. Employees may visit a DragonCard Office to have a photo taken or submit their photo online. There is a $20 replacement fee for a lost card.
DragonCards are issued one per person. If you are also taking courses while employed by Drexel University, you will receive a DragonCard with the designation of your primary status with the University. In most cases, this status is Faculty or Professional Staff and not Student.
