Updates: Winter Term 2019

  • New Menu Additions at U.C. Veg: Through a collaboration with Drexel Food Lab and Aramark's Culinary Development Kitchen, U.C. Veg (a sustainable, plant-based menu location at Urban Eatery) will featured three new menu items for Winter 2019:
    • Pimento Cheese and Roasted Cauliflower Tartine – pimento cheese on toasted wheatberry bread with roasted cauliflower, topped with tomatoes and scallions.
    • Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Sandwich – roasted beets with a cider-herb vinaigrette, baby arugula and goat cheese on a Kaiser roll.
    • Korean Mushroom Sandwich – roasted local portobello mushrooms from Kennett Square with gochujang sauce, fried egg and scallions on a Kaiser roll.
  • Hans Weekend Hours: You asked, we listened! Weekend Brunch at the Hans will have longer hours, open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (compared to 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the fall term).
  • Farm Stand at Northside Dining Terrace: Drexel Campus Dining is proud to partner with The Common Market to host a Farm Stand every other Wednesday, started Weds. Jan. 16. Students with Dining Plans can use meal swipes or Dining Dollars to purchase fresh, local produce and prepared goods. Some examples for this winter's Farm Stand include: bosc pears, local honey and apple cider.
  • Station Takeovers at Urban Eatery: The Drexel Campus Dining Culinary Team and Campus Dietician will "take over" stations during dinner to create a special dining experience on Thursday, Jan. 31 and Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019. Details coming soon!
  • Happy Hours at Northside Dining Terrace: Drexel Campus Dining will host a monthly happy hour at Northside Dining Terrace. During these events, students with Dining Plans will be able to use a meal exchange for an entrée, side and bottle of water at these locations:
    • Wednesday, January 16, 2019, 2 – 4 p.m. – Sushi & Hot Bowls
    • Wednesday, February 13, 2019, 2 – 4 p.m. – Chick-fil-A
    • Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 2 – 4 p.m. – Subway

Fall Term 2018

  • Vegan and Vegetarian Station, U.C. Veg, opens at Urban Eatery: The menu at Urban Eatery's newest concept, U.C. Veg, offers plant-forward recipes on a rotating, seasonal basis. The fall menu will include Sweet Potato Smash, Roasted Butternut Tartines, Roasted Chickpea Gyro, Fall Vegetable Salad, Chili Con Carne Bowl, Butternut Squash Risotto, Roasted Stuffed Turk'y (Vegan). Students must try the vegan chocolate zucchini & carrot cupcakes!
  • New Meal Exchange Options at Urban Eatery: Students will get more from their Dining Plan with these meal exchange enhancements:
    • Any size Chobani creation cup + granola bar at Downtown Grounds.
    • Any panini or melt, chips or fruit, dessert + bottled water at Ignite.
    • Lunch and dinner menu meal exchanges INCLUDE dessert at every station!
  • Farm Stand: Drexel Campus Dining is proud to partner with The Common Market to host a Farm Stand. You can use your Dining Plan (meals or Dining Dollars), or DragonDollars to purchase fresh, local produce! The Farm Stand operates every other Wednesday, starting Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. on the Race Street Lawn (rain location is Northside Dining Terrace). Future Wednesday dates in 2018 include: October 10, October 24 and November 7.
  • Reusable "Green" Containers at the Hans: The Hans is now using sustainable reusable to-go containers for take-out meals. Students may purchase a sustainable container for $8 (only $4 now through October 31) at the Hans.
  • New Restaurants at Street Fare: Street Fare in Urban Eatery is a weekly rotating restaurant concept – there will be 10 weeks of unique dining experiences! Some favorites from last year will return include Olilo (Mediterranean greens & grains bowls) and BibimBox (signature Korean dishes). This Fall, two new restaurants will be featured:
    • Ci-Comida: Latin-inspired concept featuring authentic ingredients and flavors from Latin and South American cultures with a modern twist.
    • Ever Grains: Salad-bowl concept designed to promote optimal health and wellbeing using natural and functional, seasonal ingredients.
  • Chick-Fil-A and Sushi Expanded Their Menus at Northside Dining Terrace: Chick-Fil-A Express renovated, and the menu now includes the Chicken Cool Wrap, made-without-gluten Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Nuggets, and fresh baked cookies. The Sushi station expanded to offer hot rice and yakisoba noodle bowls in addition to hand-rolled sushi.

March and April 2018

  • Menu Additions: Students asked, we listened! French fries and mozzarella sticks were added as meal swipe combination options at Ignite at Urban Eatery.
  • Elimination of the 15 Minute Restriction: Meal swipes have become even more flexible! Meal swipes can still only be used once per transaction, but students don't have to wait to order from multiple platforms at Urban Eatery.
  • Eating Healthy: Campus Dietitian, Kellsey O'Donnell, held seven informative sampling events. Topics included: whole grains, healthy dairy, proper electrolytes, healthy snacking, protein vs. energy bars, vegan and vegetarian burgers and maintaining proper hydration.
  • Vegetarian and Vegan: During Earth Week, Handschumacher Dining Center implemented a "Make the Flip" campaign. This limited time offer featured meatless burgers paired with 22 vegan and vegetarian toppings and sauces. Campus Dietitian, Kellsey O'Donnell, provides weekly vegetarian menu recommendations on the Drexel Campus Dining website.
  • Study @ Urban Eatery: Students requested additional study space during finals and we listened! Urban Eatery was open late during Winter 2018 Finals Week. Student enjoyed complimentary coffee, hot tea and light snacks, as well as special late-night menus including breakfast specials from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m.
  • Baseball Opening Day Celebration: Monday, April 2, 2018, Drexel Campus Dining hosted a stadium-inspired dinner at the Handschumacher Dining Center in celebration of the opening of baseball season. Station menus were inspired by ballpark favorites with plenty of popcorn, cotton candy, cheesesteaks and corn dogs for all.
  • Game Night in the Handschumacher Dining Center: Every Thursday night in Handschumacher Dining Center students can check out a board game or card game between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Random Act of Yum: Friday, April 13, 2018, the Drexel Campus Dining team surprised Drexel students with free ice cream on Lancaster walk to celebrate one of the first beautiful and warm days of Spring in Philadelphia.
  • Drexel EarthFest 2018: Campus Dietitian, Kellsey O'Donnell and Executive Chef, Neal Drinkwine, provided samples of the soon-to-be-famous vegan beef tacos. Students also sampled local honey and learned how honeybees are critical to the environment and agriculture.

February 2018

  • Eating Healthy: Campus Dietitian, Kellsey O'Donnell, held sessions in celebration of American Heart Month, highlighting proper blood pressure management and how to control sodium content in meals.
  • Extended Menu at The Café, Queen Lane: To keep students fueled, the following entrees and snacks were added to menu at The Café, Queen Lane: chicken tender baskets, grilled cheese baskets, buffalo chicken bites, mozzarella sticks and French fries.
  • New Restaurant Rotation Option at Urban Eatery: On Monday, February 19, 2018, Drexel Campus Dining launched Iron Chef Cat Cora's newest concept, Wicked Eats at the Street Fare weekly menu rotation station. A Mediterranean Street Food concept, the menu features create-your-own pita wrap, chickpea couscous bowl or salad bowl with the protein of your choice: chicken souvlaki, shawarma beef, or baked falafel.
  • Super Bowl Celebration at the Handschumacher Dining Center: On Friday, February 2, 2018, Drexel Campus Dining hosted a Philadelphia-inspired lunch at the Handschumacher Dining Center in celebration of our hometown team making it to Super Bowl LII. Station menus were created to represent different areas of Philadelphia and to keep our students' spirits high, the dining center was transformed into a cook-out celebration, with mini football giveaways, an Eagles Game Day raffle and music.

December 2017 and January 2018

  • Extended Hours at the Hans: Based on the results of a survey released on Friday, November 17, 2017, discussions with the USGA, and feedback from students throughout the fall term, we made the following changes for Winter 2018:
    • The Hans now offers all-you-care-to-eat breakfast Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. Menu items will include made-to-order omelets, a hot breakfast buffet, vegan breakfast options, bagels and spreads, a cereal bar as well as fresh fruit, yogurt and granola.
    • The Hans is now open until 8 p.m. on Fridays!
  • Eating Healthy: Campus dietitian, Kellsey O’Donnell, held sessions such as Healthy Weight Loss and Fit Friday to assist students with setting realistic and attainable healthy lifestyle goals to kickstart New Year's resolutions.
  • Appreciate a Dragon Day: On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, we celebrated Mario the Magnificent and all things Dragon! Campus deals included double coffee reward punches at ThirtyOne41 Café in the Main Building, free Chick-Fil-A sandwich cards distributed randomly to students decked out in Drexel gear, and prize basket raffles at Starbucks and the Hans.
  • Finals Week Study Space: Drexel Campus Services furnished a study space in McAlister Hall during fall term finals' week. Drexel Campus Dining provided free coffee and tea to help keep students stay awake and alert during finals week.
  • Extended Finals Hours at Queen Lane: To keep our medical students fueled, the Queen Lane Café held extended hours along with a special late-night study menu from December 18-20, 2017. Complimentary coffee was provided with any purchase from the late-night menu.

It has been a snowy start to 2018! Even when the University closes, Drexel Campus Dining supports the needs of the students who live and study on campus by ensuring the students have dining options available to them.

November 2017

  • Drexel Campus Services and Aramark attended Family Weekend events on Saturday, November 11, 2017 answering questions and speaking with participants directly.
  • Be a Drexel Campus Dining residence hall representative. A new Advisory Board will welcome two representatives from each residence hall to meet with Drexel and Aramark leadership – we want to know what students really want from their dining plan! First meeting is in January 2018.
  • Enhanced Salad and Fruit Bar: The Nature Bar at The Hans dining center now offers at least 4 types of fruit daily along with a greater variety of toppings.
  • Urban Eatery: The Chobani Creation Station is a way to enjoy Greek yogurt with evolved ingredient combinations that ensure nourishment and delight in every bite.
  • Vegan, Vegetarian and Made without Gluten: View the "Guide to Dietary Preferences" on Aramark's On Campus Resources Page for a list of options available on campus by location. Feel free to contact Kellsey at or 215.895.6349 with dietary or nutritional needs.

September and October 2017

  • Evening Hours: Downtown Grounds, Greene St, Ignite and Vespa at the Urban Eatery are all open until 10 p.m., Monday – Sunday. Chick-fil-A, Subway, and the Market at the Northside Dining Terrace are open until 11 p.m., Monday – Saturday.
  • Avoid the Line: As students adjust to their new schedules, some diners may be experiencing longer wait times during lunch and dinner at the Handschumacher Dining Center. We will continue to make service adjustments to speed things up. In the meantime, consider arriving early and ask for a take-out container at the Welcome Desk. Fill up with your favorites and enjoy later.
  • Vegetarian & Vegan: These options, as well as made-without-gluten items, will continue to expand across all dining locations. Look for the green and yellow logos on the menu!
  • The Café at the Perelman Center for Jewish Life (34th & Arch) is Drexel's first kosher-only dining location.
