Nicholas P. Pipino Memorial Scholarship
The Nicholas P. Pipino Memorial Foundation was founded by family, friends, and volunteers seeking to stop senseless acts of violence and preserve the memory of Nick Pipino, a Drexel University student who was fatally stabbed outside Cavanaugh's Restaurant and Bar on December 19, 1992, where he worked part-time as a bartender while pursuing an undergraduate degree at Drexel.
Since 1993, the Foundation has worked with Drexel University to establish and support the Nicholas P. Pipino Memorial Scholarship. The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance and a quality education to enthusiastic students who are eager to meet the realistic demands of the professional world.
Eligible applicants include sophomores, pre-juniors or juniors and will be selected on the basis of overall scholastic achievement, student activities and community involvement. Applicants must be in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants are required to submit an essay of at least one page in length elaborating on the reasons why they are seeking the scholarship. Work-related activity necessary to meet student financial obligations and any other pertinent facts that the applicant would like to include can also be submitted.
In addition, two (2) letters of recommendation (one MUST be professional) attesting to the student's character are required to accompany the application. Scholarship funds are applied for the following Fall Term and recipients must be registered for a full-time schedule at that time.
The 2018 application period is closed
