College of Medicine Alumni Events

We welcome alumni from the College of Medicine, Medical College of Pennsylvania, Woman's Medical College, Hahnemann University and MPC Hahnemann University to Alumni Weekend 2019. Class reunions are being held for the Classes of 1969, 1984, 1989 and 1994. See below for details.  

If you’re not celebrating a reunion, join us for the All Alumni Celebration on Friday night, or one of the other events exclusively for College of Medicine alumni. And check out some of the exciting signature events happening throughout Alumni Weekend like Drexel After Dark!

The following events are exclusively for alumni from the College of Medicine and its legacy schools: 

College of Medicine All Alumni Celebration

Time: Friday, May 17; 7 to 9 p.m.
Location: Hotel Palomar, 117 South 17th Street
Cost: Classes of 2009-2018: $40 per person; Classes of 2008 and prior: $50 per person

This celebration featuring great city views and live music is open to all College of Medicine alumni. Mingle and catch up with classmates as you enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks including a signature Alumni Weekend cocktail.

College of Medicine Awards Lunch

Time: Saturday, May 18; 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cost: $40 per person

Each year the College of Medicine Alumni Association Board of Directors recognizes outstanding alumni with a series of awards. All alumni and guests are invited to attend as we honor these exemplary alumni over lunch with Daniel V. Schidlow, MD, Annenberg Dean and senior vice president, Medical Affairs.

This year, certain classes are celebrating milestone reunions. If you graduated in 1969, 1984, 1989 or 1994, see below:

College of Medicine Classes of 1969 Welcome Reception

Time: Thursday, May 16; 4 to 6 p.m.
Location: Pyramid Club, 1735 Market Street
Cost: $30 per person

The Classes of 1969 are invited to a kick off to Alumni Weekend and their 50-Year Reunion. Cost includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, open bar (beer and wine) and class photos.

College of Medicine Commencement

Time: Friday, May 17; 7:45 to 11 a.m.
Location: The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 South Broad Street
Cost: Complimentary

As members of the Hahnemann University and Woman’s Medical College Classes of 1969, you are invited as special guests to attend this year’s College of Medicine Commencement. Breakfast and regalia are provided. Additional event details will be emailed to you in May.

College of Medicine 50-Year Tour of the Archives

Time: Friday, May 17; 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Pickup/Dropoff at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 South Broad Street
Cost: $15 per person

The Legacy Center is a repository for the records and heritage of Woman's Medical College, Medical College of Pennsylvania, Hahnemann University and Drexel University College of Medicine. During this tour, the College of Medicine's archivist will show you how these valuable records are stored. A light lunch will be provided before the tour.

College of Medicine Golden Dragon Society and Grand Classes Presentation

Time: Friday, May 17; 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Location: Hotel Palomar, 117 South 17th Street
Cost: $25 per person

The Classes of 1969 will join Golden Dragon Society members from previous years and will be inducted into the Society by Daniel V. Schidlow, MD, Annenberg Dean and senior vice president, Medical Affairs. Enjoy champagne and appetizers with friends old and new before heading upstairs to the College of Medicine All Alumni Celebration.

College of Medicine Classes of 1984 35-Year Reunion

Time: Saturday, May 18; 4 to 6 p.m.
Location: The Logan Hotel, 1 Logan Square

Join hosts Mark Codella, HU MD '84, and Catherine Nicolaides Codella, HU MD '84, for a special reception celebrating the Classes of 1984 35-year reunion. Start the evening with drinks and appetizers with friends, then head over to Drexel After Dark at the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Classes of 1989 30-Year Reunion

Join Laura Gitlin, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) and James Buehler, MD, clinical professor at the Dornsife School of Public Health, for the discussion The New Normal: Implications for Higher Education of an Aging World, which is an exploration of the demographic shift, the opportunities it presents and the role of Drexel in preparing a healthcare workforce.

Drexel Fest at ANS

Time: Saturday, May 18; Museum access all day; Lunch and program: 12 to 2 p.m.
Location: Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Alumni and their families are taking over the Academy of Natural Sciences at this year’s Drexel Fest. Enjoy lunch featuring the Academy’s famous mac and cheese (who doesn’t love mac and cheese?!) and take your tiny explorers to exhibits, the fossil dig and Outside In – a hands-on zone where inquisitive minds can investigate a forest, visit the seashore, touch live animals and more!

Drexel After Dark

Time: Saturday, May 18; 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Location: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Cost: Alumni prior to 2008: $75 per person; $125 per couple (use code AL2DAD19); Classes of 2009 to 2018: $60 per person

This year, Drexel After Dark will be one to remember in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Great Stair Hall. Celebrate the close of another memorable weekend with live music from crowd-favorite, Strangers, upscale food stations and an open bar that includes a signature cocktail voted on by Drexel alumni. You’ll be some of the first visitors to witness the museum’s transformational renovation by Frank Gehry and will have private access to the galleries. Free parking provided in the museum garage.
