Outstanding Student Award
Meet our 2019 Outstanding Student Award recipients, Evan Ehlers, BS ’19, and Mallory Clites, PhD ’19, who just graduated and are now members of the Drexel Alumni community!
Ehlers plans to continue to grow Sharing Excess, the nonprofit he started as a student in the Close School of Entrepreneurship, whose mission is to give university students ways to help fight food insecurity. Clites will head to the Washington, DC, area to continue her groundbreaking work in finding sustainable alternatives for energy storage.
We can’t wait to see where their hard work, ambition and experiences will take them!
Chris Diaz, BS/MS Psychology ’16
Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award
Chris Diaz says that he sets goals that help him achieve his life’s purpose which is to use his skills in the service of others. A U.S. Navy veteran who served on the front lines in Afghanistan and a current student in Drexel’s Clinical Psychology PhD program, he continues to serve his community as the founder of the nonprofit Action Tank. Action Tank brings local military veterans together to take on civic and social problems and make a positive impact on the city while also changing the way society looks at veterans.

Sarit Kunz, BS ’00
Faculty/Staff Alumni Award for Campus Impact
As the assistant director of student services in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Sarit Kunz, BS ’00, is committed to her students’ success and wellbeing. She made a notable impact on all Drexel students when she chose to speak up directly to President Fry at a University Town Hall. Sarit shared her concern for students struggling with stress, anxiety and other mental health issues, and since then she has been working with her colleagues toward a solution.
