Computing and Informatics Summer Institutes
Drexel University Digital Development Camp
The Drexel University Digital Development Camp is a three-week virtual program (July 26 to August 13, 2021) that will give aspiring developers and hackers the opportunity to learn about full-stack development and cybersecurity. The camp is led by College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) faculty and student leaders and includes daily lessons, guest speakers, and individual/group work time. The camp is open to rising high school juniors or seniors or students admitted to the College of Computing & Informatics. Limited scholarships are available.
The Drexel University Digital Development Camp offers two tracks for campers to choose from: FullStack and Cybersecurity.
Campers pursuing the FullStack track will learn about full-stack web development, which is the front-end user experience and the back-end server that processes and stores the data received from the user. Campers will explore web design from the designer’s, implementer’s, and user’s point-of-view, leaving them with a better understanding of how the Web works, what makes a good web application, and issues associated with the way we interact with the Internet. Lab exercises are hands on and exploratory, allowing campers to discover new ways to look at familiar systems to better understand how they are designed and used.
Campers pursuing the Cybersecurity track will learn fundamental information technology security concepts. The goals of the Cybersecurity track is increase interest in cybersecurity careers and diversity in the cybersecurity workforce of the nation, help all students understand correct and safe online behavior and how they can be good digital citizens. Campers will complete a series of projects that will teach them about cybersecurity.
The camp will also expose students to different computing majors and careers.
