Research Core Facilities at Drexel accelerate discovery, promote collaboration, and enhance learning experiences of Drexel researchers by providing access to a range of state-of-the-art instrumentation, expert training and services. The shared resources and physical spaces of cores are a nexus for innovation cutting across disciplines. Expert technical staff care for the instruments and, most importantly, provide critical hands-on training to the next generation of researchers. Core facilities at Drexel help sustain Drexel’s strong research trajectory that was recently acknowledged by our attaining the Research 1 designation in the Carnegie rankings.

Cores at Drexel are open to all Drexel researchers as well as our external academic and industry partners.

Drexel University Libraries provide access to valuable tools and resources to support researchers of all levels from freshmen to faculty. Librarians provide expert research advice through one-on-one consultations, workshops, self-guided tutorials, and subject-related guides.

Electronic Research Notebooks (ERNs) help researchers to manage the results of research efforts, record and document research processes and procedures, and manage digital research data in ways that increase reproducibility, efficiency, collaboration, searchability, and security. Drexel University has purchased an enterprise license for LabArchives electronic research notebook (ERN) services for use by its faculty, researchers, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students in performing or learning research activities.

Drexel’s Office of Research & Innovation and the Department of Environment Health and Safety are dedicated to the health, safety and welfare of our research community. We work together to ensure health and safety compliance across campus by assisting researchers and clinicians in meeting all federal, state and local standards and regulations. In the section, you will find detailed information and resources related to: Laboratory Safety, Biosafety, Radiation Safety, Safety Training, and Service Requests and Forms.

Access to the required online safety training modules is found in the BioRaft platform. Training is required for all individuals working or learning in university laboratories and clinical/medical operations. The training platform can be accessed by going to drexel.bioraft.com. You can log into the system using your Drexel credentials. 

The Office of Research & Innovation can help determine what sponsors are funding work in your field and what type of projects are they funding. The ORI's funding resources page will help you learn about funding methods and resources for grants, agreements, and contracts, sponsors, and internal funding.

Drexel University has a subscription to Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR): a data archive of more than 250,000 files of research in the social and behavioral sciences. Teaching/learning resources include data-driven learning guides and classroom exercises. The data archive includes a broad range of disciplines, including political science, sociology, demography, economics, history, education, gerontology, criminal justice, public health, foreign policy, and law. ICPSR's entire collection is online and available for downloading.

In July 2016, Drexel University, Pennsylvania State University, the University of Pennsylvania and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia founded a consortium to establish, in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) in Philadelphia.

The Office of Research & Innovation's Sponsored Programs team has gathered many resources to help support training, growth, and knowledge. They provide both internal and external training presentations and guides that are helpful in managing your project. Training materials are available from the NIH, NSF, and the Office of Research & Innovation Sponsored Programs team.

The Research Administration Advisory Committee (RAAC) was formed to encourage the free exchange of information, experiences and ideas related to research administration activities at Drexel University. Research Administration representatives from Drexel's academic and central business units were asked to meet as a committee for the collaborative exchange of ideas leading to best practices for improved administration functions and increased opportunities for the University's research community.

The mission of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Committee (SSHRC) is to advance social science and humanity scholarship of Drexel University through an engaging and sustainable research community. A strong research community can facilitate knowledge sharing and exchange, foster a culture of mutual support, and increase opportunities for collaboration between colleagues across disciplinary/departmental boundaries.
