Message from the Department Head, Scott Barclay
Welcome to the Department of History & Politics!
History and political science have a lot in common. They incorporate the essential elements of liberal education: the acquisition of knowledge, the development of understanding, the appreciation of context, and the enhancement of critical-thinking and communication. We encourage students to work individually with faculty members to develop their own research projects and to set goals for their future academic endeavors.
Drexel University is distinctive and our department embodies that difference.
- Philadelphia is a wonderful place to be a student. We encourage you to take your research off campus into the city's many libraries, archives, and collections.
- Many of our faculty take a special interest in issues involving science and technology, including environmental impacts and issues of race and gender.
- Most of our department’s majors participate in Drexel’s renowned Cooperative Education Program (co-op), which puts students in viable work settings for six-month periods during the academic year.
We invite you to explore our website and to visit us in 3025 MacAlister Hall for more information.
