In April, Drexel partnered with the Goodwill of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia for a campus-wide, month-long clothing donation drive. With a mission of “putting people to work,” Goodwill plays a powerful role in the workforce development landscape in the region, placing someone in a job every 42 seconds. Goodwill’s goals were in obvious alignment with the objectives of Drexel’s Workforce Development program, which aims to increase job and training opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed who live in the areas surrounding the University. The drive resulted in 181 bags of clothing and accessories, which will be sold at Goodwill stores. In total, the donations came to 4,163 pounds. Funding that is generated by this project will support a trainer who is permanently located at Drexel’s Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships.
