Did You Know?

You will save over 260 gallons of water this year just by doing one load of wash each week*
*Compared to top-loading washers

90% of the energy needed to wash clothes goes towards heating the water, so chose the cold cycle to reduce energy consumption

Using too much detergent doesn’t clean more effectively – in fact it leaves residue on your clothing and causes oversudsing

Be clean & green in the laundry room

Clean & Green Vision

Your campus is equipped with the most water- and energy-efficient laundry machines available.

That's the first step to being clean & green in the laundry room. The rest is up to you...

Reduce
  • Water temperature Choose the Cold Cycle to save energy and prevent clothing shrinkage
  • Trips to the laundry room Only wash full loads to conserve water and time
  • Detergent usage Use only the manufacturer-recommended dose of concentrated HE detergent to reduce the amount of dirty wastewater entering our environment
  • Lint build-up Cleaning the dryer filter before each cycle maximizes air flow; improving drying and saving energy

Reuse

  • Residual heat Select a recently used dryer (warm to the touch) to take advantage of the heat left in the dryer

Recycle

  • Detergent containers Doing so helps avert tons of plastic from entering landfills
