The University Procurement Supplier Diversity Development Initiative focuses on expanding participation of qualified diversity suppliers and helping both qualified and non-qualified diversity suppliers build their overall business capacity.

University Procurement works with all diversity businesses by:

• Streamlining the supplier engagement process for qualified diversity suppliers.

• Providing mentoring services through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Center to assist in the development of supplier skills, capacity, and technology capabilities to successfully compete in the University's purchasing environment.

• Increasing opportunities for diversity suppliers by working with Drexel's major strategic business partners to develop meaningful and mutually beneficial business relationships.

• Expanding construction industry diversity by

  1. Identifying and expanding Drexel's contractors bidders list of qualified diversity contractors

  2. Working with Drexel's large construction contractors to encourage sponsorship of apprenticeship programs

  3. Developing diversity participation plans for expanding subcontracting opportunities on projects

  4. Encouraging participation in programs that facilitate introductions to diversity contractors for future subcontracting and joint venturing opportunities.
