Guitar Ensembles

The Guitar Ensemble I is a learning based ensemble that comprises roughly 15 guitarists that play acoustic instruments. Unlike playing guitar in a rock band, this group offer its participants a chance to play in a larger orchestra-like setting. The repertoire primarily consists of classical jazz pieces specially arranged for the group. All of this culminates in a unique experience that teaches new skills. No audition is required, but students must possess basic note reading in the first position on the guitar neck.

The Guitar Ensemble II is a group of roughly eight acoustic guitarists whose focus is learning repertoire for the sake of performance. The repertoire is classical and jazz in nature. This ensemble also welcomes music arranged or specifically written for the group by its members. Concerts consist of the ensemble pieces as well as solo, duo and trio performances by the groups individual members. Musicianship and reading ability need to be strong to be a part of this ensemble. Admission is by audition only, and performance scholarships are available for Guitar II. Scholarship auditions are generally held during Accepted Student's Day, which will be on April 12th and 13th, but may be scheduled at any time by contacting Mr. Joe Napoli, Director, at j.napoli@comcast.net, or call (215) 895-6214.
